Why we built a daily 11 plus app

Most 11 plus preparation fails for a boring reason. Not because the child cannot do the work, and not because the family did not buy the right book, but because on an ordinary Tuesday evening nobody could face deciding what to revise. The workbook is somewhere, the tutor is on Thursday, and the decision itself is the moment practice quietly does not happen.

11+ Daily exists to remove that decision. It opens to a Today screen that has already chosen one subject and one specific skill for today, based on what your child has done and what they have found hard. The session is short, it is focused on one thing, and when it is done the app already knows what tomorrow looks like.

That is the whole idea. Everything else in the product is there to support it.

What is in it

The four subjects 11 plus papers test, and the eleven plus material inside each of them:

• English. Vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, grammar, synonyms, antonyms, figurative language, idioms, and words in context. Native British audio on the vocabulary and spelling cards.
• Maths. Key Stage 2 maths in a reasoning style: number, fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio, algebra, measurement, geometry, statistics and multi-step word problems. Diagrams are drawn live so they look identical on every device.
• Verbal Reasoning. The question families that come up again and again: closest and opposite meaning, hidden words, compound words, letter series, letter and number codes, number series, and reading information.
• Non-Verbal Reasoning. Series, odd one out, analogies, matrices, similarities and codes, all drawn as clean figures rather than scanned pictures.

In total that is over 10,000 questions across 78 skill projects, all original to 11+ Daily. Nothing in there is a past paper and nothing is licensed from another publisher. The bank has been re-checked round after round since April: five rounds on Maths alone, with separate sweeps for English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and anything that did not hold up was rewritten or removed. Every question has five options, instant feedback, a hint and an explanation right there.

Underneath the questions there is a revision system doing quiet work. Vocabulary and spelling use spaced repetition, so a word comes back at growing intervals until it sticks. Everything else uses targeted retry: a wrong answer comes back in a later session until it is right, then retires, because the 11 plus tests skills rather than facts.

And there is a parents area. It shows what was practised this week, how coverage is building across the subjects, and where the weak points are, without you having to ask your child how it went.

What it costs

One plan, fully unlocked from the first session.

We priced it to sit alongside a couple of workbooks a year rather than alongside a tutor. If the trial does not turn into a habit for your child, you should not pay for it, and you will not have.

Where it runs

The web app is where it starts. It runs in the browser on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, and one account works across all of them. That is what is open to families now: the full app, the free trial, and the annual and monthly plans.

iPhone, iPad and Android apps are coming soon. They are built, and they are going through the store approval steps that every new app has to pass. When they are live, the same account and the same subscription will carry across with nothing to redo.

What we are not going to do

A short list, because it is as much a part of the product as the features are.

• No leaderboards, no streak shaming, no reward shop. Practice is the point, not points.
• No mock papers inside the app. A mock paper is an hour at a table with a printed answer sheet, and it belongs on paper. We will keep saying so.
• No claims about which school your child will get into. The 11 plus is a test, it feeds several schools, and nobody can promise a place.

What to do now
